Cancun is one of the best places to party not only in Mexico, but in the entire world. There is great weather, cheap drinks, beautiful men and women and an all-around awesome party atmosphere. There are many different bars and nightclubs to choose from, and the party goes on all night long. The following is a guide to how to have fun at Cancun bars and nightclubs. Nightclubs The nightclubs in Cancun are enormous party palaces that generally charge a set admission. The admission price entitles the entrant to as much as they can drink until 3 am usually. People that want to stay after that can pay by the drink, and the clubs usually close for the night at 4, 5 or even 6 in the morning. These clubs usually charge around $30 to $40 for entrance. These clubs are all about the huge dance floors. They also offer crazy shows like circus performers and bikini contests. Bars There are a number of smaller bars in Cancun, but just because they are smaller doesn’t mean that they can’t be every bit as fun and crazy as the larger dance clubs. These bars usually are open during the day to serve food, usually Mexican or American. The bars do not have an admission price to get in, and customers can simply pay as they drink. However, the bars do offer all you can drink deals for somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 to $30. Most of the bars close at 1am. It is not uncommon for people to start their nights out at one of the bars and then head to a club when the bars close. Be careful of the wandering shot girls in the bar. They are very attractive and persuasive, but their Jell-O shots are terribly overpriced. Safety Cancun is generally a pretty safe place. There is not a very high risk of violent crime, unlike many other areas of Mexico. The biggest danger is petty theft. Therefore, do not leave cameras and purses unattended, because there is a good chance someone will walk off with them. There is a slight danger of being drugged and then mugged or raped. Never leave your drinks unattended, and be wary of accepting drinks directly from strangers. Most of the big clubs and bars are in the same general area of town. If you are in a group, do not be afraid to walk. Late at night women should not walk alone and should take a taxi instead. |
